5 Mariah Memoirs You Need to Hear

A streaming of Diva Mariah Carey’s newest album, Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse, hit iTunes at midnight on Tuesday (May 19). The fourteenth studio album from the legend received favorable reviews from listeners. The R&B driven album which is set to be accompanied with a few collaborations, such as Nas and Wale, will officially drop next Tuesday (May 27). Dem Babies will even make an appearance. In anticipation of Carey’s newest album, here are five songs from her last album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel (2009), which you need to hear.

“It’s A Wrap”
One of the collaborations on Mariah’s upcoming album is a duet with the Queen of Hip Hop and Soul, Mary J. Blige, on this very song that will be included on the deluxe edition. The original is one of my favorites from Memoirs, so I hope that Blige will help take it to an even higher level.

“H.A.T.E.U”
This song failed to make it to Billboard’s Hot 100 but as you may be well aware of, Billboard tends get it wrong with lots of good songs. Standing for ‘Having A Typical Emotional Upset’, the song speaks of a love gone sour. Listen, when you love someone to the point that you wish you could get to that consuming emotion of hate… man.

“Candy Bling”
Why this song wasn’t released to witness the glory of a sunny day at the park or beach, I will never know.

“Inseparable”
That love that you thought would never die and still hold out hope that it won’t. Yes, Mimi. Yes.

“Angels Cry” (Duet remix with Ne-Yo)
This song was so ridiculously overlooked and underrated that it’s ridiculous. The original with just Carey was good but the addition of Ne-Yo really takes the song to another level. The two artists have a great chemistry.
