When you have been involved in with the greatness that is Janet Jackson, your name is pretty much going to be synonymous with her too many. But before Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, became the Yang to Janet Jackson’s Ying, they were known as The Time alongside Morris Day. The group toured and opened for Prince. They had already begin to get their names out there with their mega talents, but it wasn’t until they hooked up with Jackson for her breakthrough album Control in 1986 that everyone knew just how badd they were.
Today is Jam’s birthday (June 6) and in celebration, here a couple of songs produced by him and Lewis that you probably didn’t know they were behind. The duo has produced 16 #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts. They were inducted into the SoulMusic Hall of Fame in 2012.
Happy Birthday, Jam!
